Monday
This morning I took the tube to BYM instead of cycling, and for the first time I opened my laptop while en route and I read the pdf of this week's The Friend. This weekend my laptop also has one of the new outreach stickers on it reading: 'Quakers: Simple. Radical. Contemporary'. A student-type lad sat next to me and after a few moments it was clear that he was looking over and also reading The Friend. As it happens, I was on the article about our blog. I liked this bit of subtle profile-raising. It also reminds me of the Friend who did outreach by showing her sports car to an enquirer who feared that he would not be able to live up to what he perceived as our high values & ethics. In a way, I was demonstrating that I'm a Quaker embedded in the 21st century, and others can be as well.
